Not long ago, a California landlord was charged with 20 misdemeanors relating to violations of the municipal code for not having the proper permits to make changes to a building he owned. Apparently, there was a years-long investigation into his commercial property and in addition to numerous structural violations, several unauthorized people were found to be residing in the building.

San Diego criminal defense attorney Jessica McElfresh scrutinized each detail of her client’s case and after a thorough investigation, she negotiated a complete dismissal for another individual not actively involved in the business and the original 20 counts reduced to a single misdemeanor. Her client agreed to make the appropriate repairs and comply with the code enforcement process. Once completed, attorney McElfresh facilitated an agreement to have his probation terminated early and the conviction dismissed.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
